The Square of Bloody Murder

Today is June 4, and it's been 20 years since the massacre at China's Tien An Men, the Square (literally Gate) of Heavenly Peace in Peking.
Peaceful protesting students and other citizens were, on that fateful morning, slaughtered by Chinese soldiers and tanks. The call for democratic reforms in the world's most populous nation had, once more, been answered by sheer violence.

Repression is the modus operandi of a dictatorship and it was therefore no surprise whatsoever that the Chinese authorities chose this means of dealing with the situation.
Today, on the anniversary of the bloody cleansing of the square, security is tighter than ever in Peking and throughout China. Nobody is allowed to mention the Liu Si (June 4) incident. There is no repentance from the government.
And this may be the biggest cause for concern; 20 years after the Cultural Revolution - another Chinese mass murder - it was condemned by the Peking leaders. Today we see no such attitude.

And the rest of the world stands by and does... nothing. Because there is too much money to be made, or lost, in the Chinese market.
It's a shame.
